For The Whole Family
"We take all our out of town relatives and friends to the fort because it's a place for everyone. The St Augustine Fort, the Castillo de San Marcos has a great view too. When we take our friends and family to the fort they can get a vista of St. Augustine that orientates them to the town. The fort, the Castillo de San Marcos, sits strategically on the bay front and the boats, Anastasia Island, the light house, the visitor's center, St. George Street and other St. Augustine locations are visible from the four bastions. When I'm feeling particularly tour guide guy I tell my close fiends the four names of the four bastions. They are: San Pedro, San Agustín, San Carlos and San Pablo. There you go, now were friends, hey let's go to the fort," said St. Augustine filmmaker Bruce Merwin.

St Augustine Fort, The Castillo de San Marcos
is the largest bastion ever created by The Spanish Empire, the Castillo was built to protect and defend Spain’s claims in the New World. Though caught in the whirlwinds of colonial warfare and intrigue, it was never defeated in battle. Its scarred walls still stand witness to over 339 years of history and culture.
The Castillo comes alive through a diverse range of programs which include Ranger talks, museum exhibits, historical weapons demonstrations, living history reenactments, and special events. Don't miss your best chance to see history in action. No time machine necessary.
